The Diagnosis

This will differ from person to person but when I first started with back pain in 2018 my Doctor first thought it was just a strain to the muscles and I was given various painkillers such as Codeine, Tramadol and a few others, The pain continued to get worse to the point I was constantly been sent home from work which lead to my Doctor sending me for an MRI.

The MRI took a few weeks to get an appointment so it was all a waiting game with no idea what was going on with my body, It was scary and worrying at the same time just waiting in pain but the day finally came and away I went to the hospital for my MRI.

The MRI wasn’t as scary as I thought it was going to be, I was given some headphones and a choice of music to listen to during the scan and I was given a weird squeeze ball to use if I wasn’t able to continue any further in the MRI Scanner but I didn’t need to use it.

Once the MRI was over I was again sent home to await the results from my Doctor, This was the quickest part I got a call from the Doctors office asking me to come in and discuss my results and an appointment was made for the next day.

The next day I went to my appointment to speak with my Doctor about the results and he explained I had Lumbar Spinal Stenosis and what exactly this diagnosis was and what it could mean in the future, We discussed pain medications and decided it was best for me to be put on Zomorph Prolonged Release Morphine which thankfully helps with the pain, It doesn’t remove it completely as I believe no pain medication would be able to do this but it certainly takes the edge off although I do have days where my only option is to remain in bed as the pain is so bad.
